Courtney was raised in South Orange County.  Both of her parents were raised as Jehovah Witnesses, but when Courtney was 7 they both left the church due to conflict of beliefs about sexual conduct.  Courtney's parents had many gay friends, and her mother came out as a lesbian when Courtney was 11.  Courtney was raised in a very open minded environment.  Her parents were very straightforward about sexuality, using clinical terms instead of baby talking through explanations. 

  Her experience started at the Pleasure Chest Los Angeles in May of 1997 until May of 2007. Her jobs there have included sexual amenities consultant, she has been a product consultant for buyers, as well as managing the retail store over the last decade. She now works full time as a consultant for couples, singles, and adult oriented corporations. As a sex educator Courtney has been offering classes at The Pleasure Chest since July 2005, where she met Shelby and has been co-teaching with her since September 2005. In addition to these in store classes , The Two Ladies are available for private consultation and as well as in home party's and public events.

  Courtney is also an established alternative model and performance artist who has been in and around the fetish community on a global scale for almost 11 years.  She has also has been involved in the organization and production of many fashion shows, fetish events, and  private parties for the last 7 years.  She has performed and been a part of production and coordination at such events as the Masquerade Ball, Fetish Ball, the Bondage Ball, Burlesque at the Derby, Miss Kitty's Parlor, Vaudeville
Flesh,Rock the Coffin Bury the Cradle, and various other events in Los Angeles , as well as Europe.

Shelby Jones

Shelby was raised in Southern California in Ventura County. The eldest daughter to two very liberal, open minded and politically active parents, the stage was set early on for her to pursue a career in an alternative field. Her mother has been involved in the sexually liberal community, being a supporter of gay rights for most of Shelby's life.   Her father stood as a sort of surrogate father, taking in and opening his home and heart to many an abandoned gay friend of Shelby's. Home life was different from the average nuclear family in that cursing was seen as little more than an unintelligent use of words, while racially derogatory, or sexist slang was outright not allowed. Education was highly valued, and Shelby was encouraged to seek the answers to her questions from many a source, to read books, check references, and ask questions from very early on.

Shelby holds a minor degree in human sexuality, and served as an assistant student teacher in Human Sexuality for 1 year. She has been in, or around the Los Angeles BDSM scene for over 10 years. She has personal experience with BDSM/ homosexual and heterosexual relationships, as both a top and bottom.

She began working at The Pleasure Chest in Los Angeles in January 2005, which is where she met Courtney.   She has since left the Pleasure Chest and currently works as the manager for Syren, a latex fashion boutique. She has been co-teaching sexual education classes with Courtney Cruz since September of 2005.
